Commitment to Veterans
Jesus told us that there is no greater love than when someone lays down their own life on behalf of others. Our men and women who have served in the armed forces have all practiced sacrificial love, in whatever capacity they have served. And those who have died for us are especially worthy of honor. Our church is proud of deeply grateful to all who have served, and we honor veterans in special ways throughout the year, not only within our church, but by participating in civic services, and events hosted by veterans organizations. As part of our ongoing commitment to veterans we have begun hosting guest speakers on topics of special interest to vets. Last year we hosted a workshop on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that was very successful, and this year we hope to continue our focus by offering a workshop on successfully navigating the veteran benefits systems. In addition we have an ongoing project of collecting the names of veterans who have served from the Korean War era onward for compilation in an honor roll to be displayed in our church. If you know of such persons please send us an e-mail with their names for inclusion in the honor roll.
